Indian Army Haircut

In our Indian army there are hair standards for both men and women. There are some hair style restrictions in all the categories of Indian Army including army, navy or airforce. Particular and specific haircuts are important for many reasons. First, Indian army haircut creates a sense of uniformity and discipline among all the candidates and soldiers. And it also supports military gear such as helmets etc. It is less time consuming and it is convenient for all. It don't consume much grooming time. Second important thing about Indian army haircut is hygiene. Indian army haircut are easy to maintain as they are short and they keep oneself clean.

Now we will talk particularly about men and women haircut according to their rank, post etc. Men's haircut which is also known as fauji cut. It is a high and tight army haircut. It is easily recognizable as a specific army cut. Men no matter which entry they come from have to undergo Army Haircut (fauji cut). It is the same for all. Whether they want or not they groom it. As all the candidates have short and same haircut they don't feel inferior. In this category Sikhs don't cut short hair and they are allowed to keep turban because of religious practices. In Sikh's culture it is an important part to have long hair and keep it tidy and neat in a turban. In that way they also maintain their hygiene and uniformity. Also, Sikhs who did not have turban at the time of commissioning will not be allowed to later have long hair and beard as he wasn't following the same while commissioning. Once a cadet becomes an officer then army haircut is not mandatory for him but he is only allowed to have a short hair cut. He has to make sure that hair doesn't flow freely in the air. For female candidates they have mandatory boy cut during their term of training but they may keep long hair after commissioning. On duty period they are not allowed to style and colour them. After the duty period they can do this. During duty they have to tie a neat and clean bun. They have to make sure they are never left open.
